About Kate

Kate Swartwout with the American Hockey League championship trophy, the Calder Cup

Welcome to my tiny corner on the internet; filled with portfolio pieces, previous publications and current ramblings.

I am a NCAA Division 1 soccer captain who will receive two baccalaureate degrees in Marketing and Communication with a concentration in Public Relations upon “graduation” in May 2020.

A few things that make me, me:

  1. I’m originally from Maine (which explains my love for all New England sports) but now reside in Davidson, North Carolina.
  2. I have travelled to 18 countries but only 11 U.S. states (flyovers and drive throughs don’t count!!)
  3. I graduated high school early with 26 college credits so that I could move down to Australia for two years while my dad worked in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. This also allowed me to pursue two degrees when I returned for college.
  4. During my junior year of college (2018-19) I interned with the Calder Cup-winning Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. (See photo above and my resume below to learn a bit more).

You’ll most likely find me in a coffee shop, holding a book (probably by an author from the 19th century or before) rambling about something sports related. In case you want to take a look at my professional experience, I’ve attached my resumé below!
